I had a good start to my semester until we had to go remote learning. With remote learning the development of the designs went slower than expected. Since we were remote learning I decided to have two toiles ready for the end of the semester and was working on them, but as we were allowed back to class, I decided to get my first design made in the final fabric. This allowed me to have a base for the other designs. Making a toile of the jacket in design 2 has helped me with checking the fit and make necessary adjustments as soon as design 1 completes. Since I decided to have my collection made in denim, I am happy how it turned out in design one. Using different colours in the embellishment has stood out, giving emphasis to it. The silhouette had a bold look to it as intended. I had to do a few toiles to get it the way I wanted it to look. Having used thick denim on the top of the dress and meters of fabric on the lower dress has made the garment heavy which became tricky to sew cause of the weight. The embellishment was time consuming, but it did have an impact. Having my first design in the final fabric has helped me to imagine, what I can expect from the rest of my designs and how I can work with the other designs to make it look cohesive. I must keep in mind that embellishment takes way more time than planned. My other designs are more complex than the one made, so I got to bear in mind the time required to get it done in time.
